Meet Earl the Bison
If you have visited us at our 3,000 square foot location in Earlton, you surely have met Earl the Bison or at least noticed him.
Who is Earl?
Earl is a 19-feet tall and 27-feet long massive bison statue weighing nine tons, which overlooks the sale lot. This all-steel-welded sculpture of a North American bison was commissioned by Bison du Nord – a local bison ranch. Mike Camp is the sculptor, who worked on creating Earl for over a year in 1983-1984.
Bisons have been a part of Earlton RV since the very beginning as the original founder, Mr. Laurent Bélanger and his family have ranched bison since 1972.
Bison du Nord is multi-generational family business owned by the Bélangers. It is also now certified Animal Welfare Approved and Certified Grassfed by A Greener World – an independent American organization that promotes verified and sustainable farming practices.
Now back to Earl.
Not only is Earl a Trans-Canada Highway landmark, but he is also the predominant figure of our logo. In more recent years, Earl has become a children’s character for the dealership’s colouring books, keychains and pop-up booths at RV shows. And if you visit our store, you might be able to spot his friend Pearl!
Next time you are driving by, stop in and say hi! Earl loves a good selfie with his camping friends, especially at Christmas when he is all lit up for the Holidays!
